MINUTES OF LIADA MEETING
February 18, 2007

10:45 AM Meeting called to order

Attendees:  Mark Finkel, Manny Kelmenson, Norm Maxwell, Helen Maxwell, Lita Kelmenson, Judith Maxwell, H. Scottie Coads, Mary Mcwilliams and Jack McNanie

Motion by Mary McWilliams to accept the minutes of the September 2006 open meeting was seconded by Mark Finkel and unanimously passed.

Manny Kelmenson presented the Treasurer’s report.  Current balance $3009.  Bills for the members attendance at the National meeting in D.C. have not been paid.  The bill for chairs for the rental of chairs for the open September 2006 meeting needs to be presented to the Treasurer.  Motion by Norm Maxwell to accept the Treasurer’s report was seconded by Mary McWilliams and was unanimously passed.

Mark Finkel lead a discussion of the results of the November 2006 election on Long Island.  All the judicial candidates we supported won.  Only one assembly seat in Suffolk County changed parties.   In the special election in Nassau County, Craig Johnson, whom we supported, won.  November 2007 is the County Executive election in Suffolk 

Motion by Norm Maxwell to send a letter of congratulations to Tom DiNapoli on his appointment as NYS Comptroller was seconded and unanimously passed.

Action items:

Lita Kelmenson agreed to investigate and report on the John Edwards Proposal for universal healthcare coverage and compare it to HR 676

Speakers for future meetings:

Scottie will contact the Clinton campaign for May 2007;

Mark will contact the Dennis Kucinich campaign for April 2007.

Jack to attend National conference in 2007.
